What are Crystal Skulls?

Crystal skulls are usually made of some type of quartz crystal and are generally found in Mexico and Central America but also have been found in Tibet, Peru, and Russia.  The skulls are usually shaped like human skulls ranging in size from 1 inch in diameter to 7 inches in diameter or even larger. Some skulls are anatomically correct while others are just crude replicas. There are skulls that show the definite shape of the teeth, while others do not.

Two types of skulls exist; contemporary skulls more recently carved and ancient ones carved before the Pre- Columbian era. Modern skulls are usually identified more readily by the stroke marks of the jewelers wheel seen in the crystal. Since the fourteenth century, craftspeople used jeweler's wheels powered by hand or foot. The wheels today are made of metal and coated in diamonds and are electronically powered. A skull with carving strokes in a circular motion from a rotary wheel would be identified as contemporary. However, new archaeological evidence contradicts the present belief that pre-Columbian artisans did not use rotary wheels, so trying to accurately date a crystal skull seems almost impossible. In addition, crystals cannot be subjected to carbon-14 dating tests. These tests are only valuable on organic materials such as bone or wood fossils.  Other factors that make dating crystals difficult are: they do not change with age, do not corrode, or become brittle, and they neither attract organisms nor acquire a patina.

The owners or caretakers of the privately owned skulls all report some mystical occurrences around them. Some report healings, strange sounds or changes in the skulls as well as instances of psychic development.

We surmise that the ancient crystal skulls were used in conjunction with various ceremonies, particularly healing or divining. Sensitives who have had the opportunity to sit with a purported ancient skull suggest that they were either created by more advanced civilizations such as Atlantis or Lemuria, brought to earth by extra-terrestrials or by an unknown race of people.

What is the purpose of the Crystal Skulls?

The purpose of the crystal skulls is a mystery. There are several factors that need to be considered in order to define the possible purpose of the crystal skulls.  Meanings to words are subject to change according to the era and culture we live in. For example the word chips to Americans usually refers to potato chips. However, if you ordered potato chips in England, you would be served a European version of fried potatoes, not the thin, salty, crispy chips packaged in a bag. And so it is with crystal. A piece of quartz crystal rock to some people is simply a rock. To others the crystal may seem mystical and a product of the "New Age." To engineers, scientists and communication specialists quartz crystal is a key component in radio, television,, watches, radar, sonar and computers. In the future quartz crystal may be used in advanced technology we are not yet aware. But to ancient man quartz crystal was none of these. Ancient man's view of crystal may have a significant importance in determining the meaning of the crystal skulls.

To ancient man rock crystal came from heaven. Ancient people believed rock crystal, as well as diamonds, crystal and glass were all frozen water from heaven. According to ancient belief, God spilled water from heaven. As the water came closer to earth, it became frozen in outer space. Thus the holy ice was preserved in solid form for the protection and blessing of man. To ancient man crystal dispelled sorcery and bestowed divine power on the wearer.

In early Egypt a small circular piece of crystal was placed on the center of the forehead of the deceased before mummification. This circular crystal created a sort of artificial third eye to help the newly dead find their way to the splendors of eternity. The Druids carried a crystal as a symbol of their spiritual power and the Vikings used crystal as an aid in navigation. During the Middle Ages crystal inlays were used in church altars, the most sacred part of the church. The altar was usually inlaid with seven stones and repeated in church altars throughout the world. The number seven is a mystical number.

In the King James version of the Bible, there are several references to the Urim and the Thurmmin. Webster's dictionary defines the Urim and the Thurmmin as certain objects mentioned in the Old Testament as being mediums for the revelation of the will of God to his people.

Crystal vibrates at its own speed. When a human touches crystal it changes the vibration of the crystal. Either the crystal vibration matches its owners vibration or develops a vibration that harmonizes with the human's vibration. In essence crystal is just a piece of crystal until it is energized by a person. A crystal can be compared to a radio not switched on until the crystal is energized in some way.

Skulls have been objects of veneration from the primitive day's of civilization. In many cultures skulls have been repeated symbols of varying degrees representing death,destruction, rebirth, knowledge and wisdom of the highest orders. Skulls probably had influence in history because priests, shamans, monks or others of recognized wisdom in the respective cultures likely used them. The skulls were used in rituals as symbols of higher knowledge, wisdom, magic and probably even as a symbol of God in some cultures. The skull shape as well as the material it was made from is both important.In early Christianity the symbol of a skull, although not crystal, was a familiar motif in Italian paintings, women's jewelry, and even seen in religious icons. Some of the first crosses displayed an image of a skull next to the crucified feet of Jesus. The meaning of a skull in earlier days probably represented higher wisdom or protection from a higher power that is opposed to the familiar meaning of skulls today. A picture of a skull with cross bones is a symbol for danger or poisonous substances, especially visible on containers of cleaning solutions. And not too long ago pirates, who pilfered, murdered and destroyed, displayed the skull and cross bone symbols on the flags flown from their pirate ships.The ancient Mayans had no fear of death. They believed that life and death are mutually interdependent. Life and death were two united and opposing forces that runs through all things. To die was to be reborn according to the ancient Mayans. By reconnecting with their ancestors in spirit the Mayans triumphed over death itself to eventually ascend to the higher heavens. The skulls represented the means to get there.

In 1966 Jose' Diaz-Bolio discovered that Mayan geometry was based on the rattlesnake's skin pattern. This pattern was also used by other Meso-American civilizations. According to Jose' Diaz-Bolio in his instructive Guide To The Ruins Of Chichen Itza , this mathematical pattern of nature was in the Yucatan hundreds or maybe even millions of years before any archaeologists or historical civilizations. Therefore, Mayan geometry existed before Pythagoras which may indicate that the source of civilization was in the Yucatan. If the Meso-American cultures were indeed the source of civilization, then the crystal skulls could hold a lot of information about the beginning of our planets history. This discovery may also indicate why the skulls are found in Mayan ruins and could also be significant information in understanding the origin of the skulls.

Maya and Alden

Maya and Alden are two small crystal skulls discovered in Mexico near ancient ruins. Maya , the larger of the two, is a clear quartz crystal approximately 4 or 5 lbs. with elongated indentations at the side temples and deep indentations underneath the jaw at the base of the crystal skull. Maya is approximately four and a half inches long, two and a half inches wide and two and a half inches high. Maya also exhibits three rows of teeth that seem to smile at you.

Alden is a smaller, heavily rutilated quartz crystal that is named after her close friend from California , who she lovingly holds responsible for his push to reactivate the larger skull at the ancient Mayan ruins. Alden is about two and a half inches long, one and a half inches wide and just as high .He weighs only seven ounces but usually surprises the person who hokls him with a jo It of energy. Willeru from Peru recently held Alden and then exclaimed, "What Power!" with a stunned expression on his face. Alden exhibits two rows of front teeth with the same elongated indentations on the side temples and underneath the jaw like Maya. Alden and Maya are similar in style to the larger Amethyst skull.

Both Maya and Alden's eye sockets are dull and unpolished which may indicate there were other crystal or semi-precious stones placed in that space at one time. There is a triangle symbol and slight ledge at the base of the triangle for a nose. Maya fits comfortably in the palm of the hand and can be held easily with the fingers of both hands in the side indentations. Alden can be gripped in the side indentations with the fingers of one hand. The elongated indentations on the side temples of the skulls are perfect handles to be used as a hand tool in a ritual or to direct energy to specific areas.

While showing Maya to a client from Ohio whom Jane had just met, she unexpectedly entered a trance state. During the trance, Jane received a message to direct the energy of the skulls to the earthquake and volcanic areas of the world. Directing energy to these areas would help anchor and balance these areas. This chance meeting occurred the day before Jane's departure for the 1995 Solar Initiation ceremony in Merida, Mexico. Jane had no intention to enter the trance-state. In face, she had not been in a trance for at least three years. Somehow, the intense energy around Maya triggered her very deep trance condition.

In March 1995 during the Sacred ceremonies at Uxmal. Maya was reactivated (in the Temple of the Jaguar during a ritual to reactivate and to release the energy of the skull. The ritual was conducted by four other females besides Jane. The other females were from England and Australia. Jane stood in the middle of the temple with a female on each corner of the square temple. Maya was held above and in front of the Jaguar statue in a feminine ritual performed from past life memory, as Father Sun penetrated the crystal skull. Maya was then carried to the top of the Pyramid of the Magician where Maya's energy was directed into Mother Earth to start a healing process. As the energy released, witnesses saw a beam of light stream out of the skull and directly enter the earth below the pyramid.

During the conference, the energy of "Maya" was shared with small groups of people attending the conference, including Mayan elders and Tibetan monks. The Tibetan monks were delighted with the skulls. Their faces beamed with illumination as each monk held Maya. One monk commented, "the shape of the skull was similar to the shape of the skull of the eight reincarnation of Buddha."

There have been a number of people who used psychometry to tune into the Skulls since Jane's return from Mexico. Most felt there was an interaction of energy between the person and the crystal skull. Some observed a being around Jane that also interacted with the energy of the skull.

Research with sensitives have described Maya as having gentle energy that transforms. "Maya made me joyous, happy and light" commented one researcher. Alden's energy is described as a projection of energy that seems to heal by using it in parts of the body for pain, release and healing. Another researcher commented, "Alden makes me feel relaxed and Maya makes me feel like she wants to take me to other dimensions."

HOW JANE ACQUIRED THE SKULLS

 In 1987 Jane Doherty walked into a store in Cunevaque in Mexico looking for a souvenir to remember her trip to Mexico. Convinced there was nothing to buy, Jane advanced towards the exit, when she spotted a locked, glass case posting a sign that read artifacts. As she neared the case, the crystal skulls captured her attention. Jane experienced such an affinity to the skulls that she had to purchase them. Her love for the crystal skulls seemed unusual to her since she had no interest in crystal and no explanation for her attraction to the skulls. As a second thought, she decided to question the storekeeper as to where the skulls were discovered. Unfortunately, he did not speak english. He just kept uttering the name of some Mexican ruin. At the time Jane was not aware there were ruins in Mexico, so she did not understand the

Spanish name. The exact discovery of the skulls at a particular ruin can only be determined psychically. At the time she also purchased two black (onyx Jaguar statues with jade inlays and a feathered serpent with holes drilled in the mouth to probably be hung around the neck.

Is There a Link Between Extra-Terrestrials and the Crystal Skulls?

There are some people who strongly feel there is a link between the crystal skulls and extra-terrestrials. Since it is so difficult to carve objects from crystal without modern devices, there are some people who believe the skulls were brought to earth by extra-terrestrials and not carved by ancient people. Native American Wisdom strongly indicates the crystal skulls are linked to the "sky people."

According to an American Indian legend, the earth was inhabited by Star people some 250,000 years ago. The Star people came from Sirius and told the earth inhabitants that there were twelve inhabited planets in the universe. The Star people left the crystal skulls on earth encoded with information. The legend continues with the great eight powers of the world: Jewish Cabbalists, African voodooist, Tibetans, Egyptians, Hindus, Moslems, Anglo-Saxons, Buddhists and Christians all having twelve major skulls each.The Native Americans also believe the Mayans are regarded as the "keeper of the skulls". They were entrusted to preserve the knowledge of the crystal skulls until the time was right for the truth. The truth will be revealed when the higher consciousness of man is achieved, according to the Mayans. To the Mayans and the native Americans the truth will finally reveal we are descendents from the "sky people" and the skulls were left to remind us of our past. Legend says that the truth will reveal we are all extra-terrestrial, therefore linking us to the crystal skulls.

It is interesting to note that my UFO experience occurred after the crystal skulls were in my possession.

"SPIRIT STONES"

Enhydrites or "spirit stones" are water stones located only in Brazil in the high mountain areas. The stones contain water that is at least 150 million years old. The water stones in the picture exhibit "spirit" faces that formed during a six month period after the stones were purchased by me in 1987. Being in contact with these stones seem to activate energies that triggered the visual appearance of faces on the smooth, shiny surface of the stone. Some of the faces on the stones look more alien than others.Water attracts spirits, so these water stones could be a source for attracting spirits or activating the spirits from eons ago that are attached to the stones much like discarnate entities that are attached to antiques, houses or people in hauntings.

For years I have used these stones and the crystal skulls in my psychic readings to assist me in increasing the energy needed to receive psychic impressions. I have also used the stones as a meditative device for concentration into the deeper level of consciousness to activate the level of psychic awareness and healing abilities. The visual faces added to my confidence and belief in spirit guides. In the beginning of my psychic awareness I needed to see to believe. The formation of these faces on the stones helped to bridge the gap from skeptic to believer for me. These are my personal divining tools that transmit energy for healing or for receiving information from the guides around me.
